Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu Outlines Government’s Plans, Programmes And Projections For Year 2021

The Majority Leader/Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Hon Member of parliament for Suame Constituency), acting as Minister of State Responsible for Finance, on authority of the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Ado, on this day, Friday 12th March, 2021, presented Government’s Budget Statement and Economic Policy for the Year Ending 2021 before the August House of Parliament.

 

 

 

Dressed in an unusual political suite, the Minister was supported by high ranking government officials led by the Vice President, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, Mrs. Akosua Fremah Opara and many others. Also in attendance to provide unflinching moral support was his wife, Mrs. Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, other sector ministers of Akuffo-Ado led government, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr John Boadu, Heads of various state institutions, officials of Bank of Ghana, including the Governor and his Deputy, and Ghana Revenue Authority.

 

 

 

 

In a well-composed gait, the Minister of State Responsible for Finance expressed gratitude to the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Ado, for the confidence reposed in him, and extended same words of gratitude to the Chairman of the Economy Management Team, HE Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the President’s Representative at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen, the Finance Minister Designate, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, Staffs and Directors of Ministry of Finance.

 

 

The experienced legislator took time to present sector by sector government plans, programmes and projections in a succinctly unechoed voice before a fully packed House led by its Speaker, Rt Hon Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin.

He announced government’s 5% GDP growth target for 2021, Gross International Reserve Cover of not less than 4months, Projected Petroleum Revenue of $885.7million, a Financing of Fiscal Deficit standing at 9.5% of GDP in 2021, amongst others, and emphasized unconditionally that, based on figures available, in spite of the covid-19 pandemic, the NPP are better managers of the economy.

He concluded by assuring the Speaker that, the Budget Statement and Economic Policy presented by government will lead to revitalization of our economy during this post-covid-19 period. And asked to present to Speaker “The Wanye Wahiae Badget’.
