A soldier has been confirmed dead, while six others sustained severe injuries in a fatal accident on the Bolgatanga-Bawku road.
The identities of the deceased and the injured are yet to be confirmed.
The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Saka, near Zebilla, involving a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) light-armoured vehicle en route from Bawku to Bolgatanga.
According to reports, the vehicle, which was traveling at high speed, lost control after one of its tyres detached, resulting in the crash.
The six injured soldiers were rushed to the Zebilla District Hospital for immediate medical attention.
Personnel from the Zebilla District Police Command swiftly responded to a distress call and assisted in evacuating the injured.
The incident has reignited concerns among residents along the highway regarding the frequent overspeeding of military vehicles, which has led to multiple accidents and casualties in recent months.
