Spread the love

Pupils of St. Immaculate R/C in Nandom in the Upper West Region have benefitted from the benevolence of a Ghanaian professional teacher at Aboabo Presby Primary School at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region. The philanthropist, madam Janet Asibi, also known as Ama Val, donated 108 sets of school uniforms, 110 pairs of shoes and 78 pieces of belts for pupils of St. Immaculate R/C.

The gesture, according to the teacher who has been doing this philanthropic for some time now, is to motivate pupils whose parents can not afford them those items with the ultimate aim of keeping them in school.

Speaking to MyGhanaMedia.com after the presentation ceremony, Madam Janet Asibi explained that her act was motivated by the inability of most parents to provide basic needs for their children and therefore encourage parents to invest massively in their wards education more especially the girl child.

She disclosed that her checks revealed that the place is a deprived area with mainly subsistence farmers who can not make earns meet and this makes it difficult for most of them to be able to provide their wards with school uniforms and other teaching and learning materials.

She added that some of the pupils were attending school with either worn out uniforms or no uniforms at all and this make the victims feel unhappy in the midst of their colleagues.

” Growing up, I was like them before so I thought it wise to be their second parent to provide them with these uniforms”, Ama Val added

She further added that her donation will largely reduced the burden of some parents and therefore charged stakeholders and other philanthropists to also come to the aid of less privilege children.

She therefore, entreated her colleague teachers to join in making a difference in the lives of their pupils and students with their resources rather than focusing only in impacting knowledge to them.

All stakeholders as well as pupils present at the presentation ceremony could not hide their joy and appealed to all and sundry to emulate her great initiative.

They further appealed to Government and other individuals to help fix the challenges of lack of textbooks and inadequate classrooms, and furniture which are great hindrance towards effective teaching and learning in the school.
