Prison Officer Stabbed To Death At Kasoa Iron City

An officer stationed at the Nsawam Prisons, Gideon Adu Boakye has been killed at Kasoa Iron City in the Awutu Senya Municipality of the Central Region.

The unfortunate incident occurred over the weekend when he went to spend the weekend with his mother.

In an interview with Adom News, Eric Akoto, a brother of the deceased said Gideon was attacked about 100 metres from the roadside.

He indicated that, his brother was stabbed, with the lifeless body dumped in a gutter nearby.

According to him, some residents close by who heard Gideon’s confrontation with the assailants disclosed that all pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears.

Eric added that, Gideon is in his early 30s with no wife or child with the body deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary.

The family is appealing to state security agencies to swiftly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, neighbours, who have been left in shock over the gruesome murder have described him as a calm gentleman with a soft heart.

Police commence investigations

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the alleged lynching of a prison officer at Iron City, a suburb of Kasoa, Central Region, which occurred over the weekend.

The Ghana Prisons Service reported that the officer’s body was found in a gutter, near Hope of Restoration School, near Red Ball, days after the incident.

In an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service Supt. Adamu Latif Abdul said the prison service is collaborating with the Police to bring the perpetrators to book.

“We heard on October 1 that one of our officers was unfortunately lynched at Kasoa. That is the information we have gathered so far. The police have commenced investigations into the whole issue.

“We have gathered that he went to visit his mother, and he went out to attend to some issues and the incident happened. Days later when he didn’t return the mother reported to the police.

“The issue is in the hands of the police, and we are waiting to find out what actually happened,” the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service said.
