The Paramount Queen Mother of the Kusaug Traditional Area, Puanaba Alasbudi has condemned recent barbaric acts towards some women in the Traditional Area. The Kusaug Traditional Area within a space of 6 weeks has recorded two inhumane acts towards two women who were going about their economic ventures.
Both cases happened in Binaba in the Bawku West District, where these women were almost stripped naked, fondled and raped.
According to the Paramount Queen Mother, one of such abominable act was captured on video and circulated on social media, which she described as despicable and humiliating in the face of the entire world and should not be entertained in this 21st century.
Puanaba Alasbudi stated this at a press conference in Bawku, capital of the Kusaug Traditional Area. She further charged the media to equally focus on the positive in the Kusaug (Bawku) community that deserves commendation and publications, rather than only focusing on the negative reports.
She added that the whole issue commenced with a gang of Fulani men who decided to rape a pregnant woman in the forest and after sexually harassing her, they use machete to cut her and inflicted so much injuries on her body. The victim was rushed to the Zebilla District Hospital where she is still receiving treatment.
Then in what looks like a retaliation to rhe above inhumane act, the husbands of the pregnant woman also took the law into their hands by kidnapping a Fulani woman, strip her naked and harassed her while recording their barbaric act on video. These two acts according to the Queen Mother must be condemned by all.
Puanaba Alasbudi commended the Ghana Police Service for their swift action by arresting some of the people behind this act, and continue to call on the Minister for Gender, Children and social Protection, Human Rights Organizations, and other Civil Society Organizations to help bring the perpetrators of both criminal acts to book without delay, to serve as a deterrent to others.
Meanwhile, the Paramount Queen Mother at another event extended a helping hand to some vulnerable and the needy families in the Kusaug Traditional Area by donating assorted food items and other domestic needs.
She use the occasion to thank one Joseph Scaletta and his wife from Canada for their support to women in the Kusaug Traditional Area, in the area of development and capacity building.
