Maverick Host of Current Affairs Program Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere has released a list of Members of Parliament he believes may vote for Alan Kyeremanten to become New Patriotic Party flagbearer.
Out of the list of 137 New Patriotic Party MPS, the Ace journalist listed about 14 who believes are likely to vote for Alan Kyeremateng as against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong and the rest.
According to Paul Adom Otchere, MP for Hohoe; Peter Amewu, MP and Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei Asare; Tema West MP Carlos Ahenkorah; Ngleshie Amanfrom MP Sylvester Tetteh; Patricia Appiagyei MP for Asokwa; MP for Okai Koi Central, Patrick Boamah among others may vote for Alan Kyeremateng.
Others include MP for Tano North, Freda Prempeh
and Subin MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi who have both been known supporters of Alan Kyeremateng.
However, Paul Adom Otchere believes these two are having a change of mind and could vote for Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Eugene Boakye Antwi is currently 60% Alan and 40% Bawumia” He said.
On Freda Prempeh, the journalist said her recent appointment as replacement for the resigned Cecilia Dapaah could turn her to vote for Bawumia but he was not sure yet.
More names mentioned include Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency MP Dr. Dickson Adomako-Kissi, Tarkwa Nsuaem MP and Deputy Minister Mireku Duker; Akropong MP Maame Dokua; Lambussie MP Bright Bakye Yelviel; Cynthia Morrison Agona among others.
The presidential elections committee of the NPP will hold an election on Saturday, August 26 reduce the 10 aspirants down to five to make way for the presidential primaries to select a flagbearer on November 4.
Ten people, including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, are in the race to lead the NPP in the 2024 presidential elections. A balloting on July 26 for the ten aspirants as announced by the spokesperson for the NPP’s Elections Committee, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, “has the candidates appearing on the ballot papers as; Ken Ohene Agyapong (one), Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen (two), Joe Ghartey (three), Kwadwo Poku (four), Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto (five), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (six), Francis Addai Nimoh (seven), Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku (eight), Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko (nine) and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (10).
