Sekyere East: Dr Ayew Afriye Donates Cardiotocography Machine To District Hospital

The affable and development oriented Member of Parliament for the good people of Effiduase-Asokore Constituency in Ashanti Region who doubles as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health at the Parliament of Ghana, Hon Dr Nana Ayew Afriye has donated a Cardiotocography machine (CTG) to the Sekyere East District Health Directorate in a small official handing over.

Presenting the Cardio tocography Machine to the District Director of Health Services in Sekyere East, the Kind hearted Legislator made it clear that the District Hospital in Effiduase lack this all important machine which aid in the smooth delivery of health care services.

” My Constituents are my assets and being practiced many years as a medical Doctor, I know the significance of this machine which measures baby’s heart rate and at the same time is used to monitor the contractions while the baby is in the Uterus, thus, very essential in the health care delivery” – Dr. Ayew.

He further encouraged the Staff of the District Hospital especially the Maternity unit to take very good care of the machine and must make sure there is proper mantainance culture for the machine to last long.

Dr Osei Owusu, a gynaecologist at the Effiduase Government hospital receiving the machine together with the District Director of Health Services, thanked the development oriented legislator for his kindness and always been there for them when the need arises.

” You’ve been a true father for this district as you’ve provided every request we bring before you or surprise donations to all Health facilities within the district, and fortunately for us, this l donation is timely.” – Dr Osei.

The CTG is used both before birth (antenataly) and during labour, to monitor the Baby for any signs of distress by looking at various different aspects of the baby’s heart rate. It helps Doctors and Midwives see how the baby is coping.
