On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon.Pamblin Jalulah, joined the Member of Parliament for the Akyem Swedru Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, along with the District Chief Executive, Asare Danso, and Nananom, to cut sod for the construction of the 30.1-kilometer Feeder Roads project from Akyem Swedru to Apoli-Beposo in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region.
Akim Swedru, Aduasa, Apoli, and Beposo are a few of the benefited communities.
PROJECT
According to information given by the Deputy Roads Minister during the sod-cutting ceremony held at the Aduasa-Fosukrom Junction, the project awarded to So Good Engineering and Construction Limited is expected to be finished within a time frame of two years.
Mr. Stephen Pambiin Jalulah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Pru West, said that the construction of the road is part of the government’s efforts to construct more roads to facilitate transportation while improving infrastructure in both rural and urban communities and would also bring short- and long-term developments to the area.
The evidence, he continued, is accessible for all Ghanaians to see or observe that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, is a government that keeps its promises.
He expressed optimism that the other metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (or MMDAs) that are facing road challenges would also get their fair share of the “Year of Roads initiative as the government expects the economy to bounce back to its growth potential.
He again appealed and challenged the contractor to work within the stipulated time frame to allow free movement of people and vehicles on the stretch of road.
He also called on the residents of the various communities along the road to cooperate with the contractor for a smooth takeoff.
2024 PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS
Moreover, Mr. Stephen Jalulah urged the electorate in the Akyem Swedru constituency to give their legislator another term to represent them in parliament in 2025.
He believes that as a member of parliament and the chairman of the select committee on roads and transportation, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko has done a great job serving his constituency and the country as a whole.
“You are very fortunate to have Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko as your MP because he is one of the most diligent Members of Parliament. He merits another term to carry on his good job as he worked hard to address the majority of the issues that his constituents encountered.
RECOMPENSE
Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru Constituency and also the Chairperson of the Parliament Select Committee on Roads and Transport, stated, addressing the media and the gathering, that every precaution has been taken to guarantee that the project will be finished by 24 months (2 years).
He also disclosed that all Project Affected Persons (PAPs) have received compensation from the government.
Mr. Kennedy Osei noted the government’s quest to improve the road network in the constituency was on course with the execution of various projects.
He says that he is also using his lobbying abilities to convince the COCOBOD to fund another road project.
