Kumawu MP Directs GES To Investigate Video Of 2 Teachers Fighting In Front Of Students During Ongoing Lessons

Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Ernest Yaw Anim, has strongly condemned a viral incident involving two male teachers engaged in a physical altercation in a classroom at a school in Pepease, located in his constituency.

The disturbing footage, which has since gone viral, shows the two educators fighting in front of students during ongoing lessons. According to the MP, the clash reportedly stemmed from a dispute involving a female colleague.

In an official statement released via his Facebook page on Friday, June 20, 2025, Anim described the conduct of the teachers as “unprofessional and a disgrace to the teaching profession.”

“I have taken note of the disturbing incident that occurred at a school in Pepease, where two male teachers were involved in a physical altercation over a female colleague. I wish to state unequivocally that such behavior is highly unacceptable, unprofessional, and a disgrace to the teaching profession,” the statement read.

He expressed disappointment over the lack of discipline exhibited, emphasizing that teachers are expected to demonstrate high moral standards and emotional maturity.

“As a Member of Parliament, I hold our educators in the highest regard and expect them to exhibit discipline, maturity, and a strong moral compass at all times. That two teachers allowed a personal disagreement to degenerate into violence on school premises is deeply disappointing and reflects a gross lack of self-control.”

Mr. Anim further called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter and ensure that appropriate sanctions are applied.

“This shameful episode not only brings disrepute to the school and the wider educational community but also undermines the authority and respect that teachers are meant to embody. If our educators cannot model responsible behavior, we risk sending the wrong message to the very students they are meant to guide and inspire.”

The MP also urged the school’s administration to prioritize the welfare of students who may have been affected by the incident.

“I also urge the school’s administration to offer psychological support and counseling to students who may have been traumatized by the incident, ensuring that their emotional and mental well-being is not neglected. We must work together to uphold professionalism and order within our schools.”

He concluded by reaffirming the need for teachers to serve as role models: “Our educators must be shining examples—individuals our children can look up to, not fear or question.”
