Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party Medical team member, Mr. John Kwame Duodu well-known as “Sir John” has said the NPP administration led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Veep Dr. Alhaji Bawumia is a government that “listens” and “cares” for Ghanaians and therefore they are on course to fix the nation, “Ghana Beyeyie”
He said the government has been fixing the country’s problems since it assumed office in 2017.
According to him, the government is committed to holistic, inclusive national development and reducing the suffering of our people adding that no Ghanaian should be left behind.
The hashtag #FixTheCountry has been trending at number one on microblogging sites since May Day, with citizens calling on the NPP government to improve the living standards of Ghanaians.
But Speaking to MyGhanaMedia.com, the Atwima Nwabiagya Mucipal Chief Executive aspirant, Mr. John Kwame Duodu {Sir John} assured Ghanaians that the primary responsibility of the government is to solve problems and he believes that in this second term of the Nana Addo – Bawumia’s government things will get much better.
According to Sir John alot of the problems have been fixed already by the NPP government in its first term.
Sir Joh noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down the global economy, which has caused a rise in the prices of commodities.
The job of the government is to fix problems. This is what we have been doing since 2017. The COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down the global economy and caused increases in prices of commodities such as oil, cement, and iron rods as well as the overall cost of shippment.
“Nevertheless, it is very important to place the performance of our government over the last four years after inheriting an economy with “no meat on the bone” on record. Ours is a government that listens and cares. The facts and data speak for themselves. Trust President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
He described the first term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia as one with resounding success.
“When it comes to the performance of our government in our first term of office compared with the performance of the NDC, it is clear that: We have Performed Better!!!
He therefore recalled the situation when the NDC was voted out of office in 2016
“Growth in agriculture was declining; Industry growth was in the negative; Interest rates were high; the banking system was weak; unemployment was rising; the NHIS was back to cash and carry. Emergency healthcare system was collapsing with only 51 semi-functional ambulances in the country; four years of dumsor with its costs.
“Average annual increase in electricity prices between 2010 and 2015 was 45%; public finances were in a precarious state. The government had to go to the IMF for a bailout and policy credibility. There were increases in taxes on many items including condoms and cutlasses. Freeze on public sector recruitment. Cuts in research allowances for lecturers. Abolition of teachers and nurses training allowances. Many parents could not afford school fees for their wards to attend senior high school
“John Mahama’s flagship policy for the development of the north (SADA) was in tatters and mired with corruption.
we are lucky to have the competent men like Nana Addo and Bawumia to manage the economy and solve the problems facing the country. These are effective leaders.
On the basis of the performance record, the leadership of this country by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has resulted in much better outcomes than the disastrous outcomes under the leadership of John Mahama. Going forward, we can continue to trust and rely on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s strong and compassionate leadership in the next four years.
Even though there is still a lot to do, any objective assessment of our performance will agree that we have performed much much better than the situation that we inherited at the beginning of 2017” he indicated.
