The Black Meteors of Ghana will encounter Congo at the Prince Moulaye Abdullah Stadium in their opening fixture of the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
The competition kicked off on Saturday night at the same venue and Ezzalzuli’s heroics powered host nation Morocco to a comeback win over Guinea in the opening game of the competition.
Ghana definitely will for a headline start and will set sights on maximum points to set off an explosive start to their campaign.
The Meteors have been preparing for the competition for months now including a training tour in Egypt which saw them train intensively and engage in some top class friendly.
The Black Stars feeder team played reigning champions Egypt in a first friendly which was really tough but managed to salvage a draw.
Subsequently, a hatrick from Romanian-based forward Emmanuel Yeboah powered the team to a 4-1 win over Zamalek SC to test their strength and readiness for the competition.
The team arrived in Rabat three days ago with six players dropped from the provisional squad and have already held series of training sessions, having acclimatized to everything and are looking very poised for the game.

Ghana U-23 head coach Ibrahim Tanko has selected 25 players for the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The hosts, Morocco opened the tournament with a win against Guinea on Saturday at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat.
Ghana who will be starting their campaign on Sunday with a clash against Congo have been in Morocco since Wednesday and aiming to finish in the top three.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the roster picked by Black Meteors head coach Ibrahim Tanko for the competition as the country prepares to face Congo.
Danlad Ibrahim, Dominic Nsobila, Augustine Randolf, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, and Emmanuel Yeboah are among the squad’s standout performers.
Ghana’s aim to finish in the top three if achieved will enable them to compete in the next Olympic Games to be held in Paris next year.

The Black Meteors will face their congolese counterparts in the second Group A match on Sunday, June 25,2023 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Samuel Ashie Quaye has been ruled out of the Ghana’s first match of the tournamen after receiving two yellow during the qualifiers.
