The District Chief Executive for the Birim South District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Hon. Taaju Abdu Rahim, has reiterated the Mahama-led government’s commitment to completing the construction of the feeder road from Akim Swedru to Apoli-Beposo.

On Friday, 13th June, 2025, Hon. Taaju Abdu Rahim conducted an inspection of the ongoing road construction project from Akim Swedru to Apoli-Beposo.

The inspection was carried out in the company of officials from the Ghana Highway Authority and the contractor, Volta Impex Ltd.

Objective of Inspection

The primary objective of the inspection was to assess the progress of the project and identify any challenges that could potentially delay its completion.

During the inspection, some challenges were identified that need to be addressed for the project to proceed smoothly. These include encroachment of buildings on the road and the need to expand certain gutters.

The DCE and the officials from the Ghana Highway Authority engaged with the contractor to discuss the project’s status and potential solutions to any challenges identified.

Troth

The District Chief Executive expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and hoped that the project would be completed within the scheduled timeframe, thereby alleviating transportation challenges for commuters and drivers who use the route.

The DCE assured that the Assembly will work closely with the chiefs, the contractor, and residents whose building will be affected to address challenges and ensure that the project is completed without any further delays.

Call For Calm

The DCE also called on the residents and commuters who rely on the road to remain calm and cooperative as the contractor resumes work, assuring them that the Mahama-led government will not abandon the project.

He added that the government is committed to improving the road network in the area, and it will ensure that this project is completed to the benefit of all.”
