Participants at the ongoing Ghana Table Tennis Association coaching course have expressed their readiness to explore, identify and learn more about the sport.
The 5-Day ITTF-PTT level 1 course which commenced today Friday, 19th January, 2024 at the University of Ghana sports directorate is aimed at equipping coaches with the requisite knowledge ahead of the upcoming African Games.
Expressing her delight, Eva Adom Amankwah of the Ghana Army said she is determined to thrive more.
“What I am expecting from this course is to get the knowledge, the skills so that I can make an impact in the young ones at Ghana Army that we are yet to recruit.
“As a player, I know what it takes to play, managing a player and other stuffs. So this course is definitely an opportunity for us to learn and develop our knowledge in the game.” She said.
The course captain, Idowu Ayodele Eletu from Nigeria expressed gratitude to the current GTTA executives for the opportunity given.
Adding that, he is expecting to get more insights on how to manage and develop amateur players as well as coaching techniques.
Other participants also used the opportunity to invite coaches and players to take advantage of such courses in the future in order to enhance their knowledge.
Mr. William Berekorang Asare, the course coordinator also highlighted the importance of the course.
He stated that, “National players would undergo athletes training program which also forms part of the Olympic solidarity program, aimed at shaping them ahead of the African games.”
With support from the Olympic solidarity under the International Table Tennis Federation, the course will be spearheaded by an ITTF instructor, Mohammed Ameen Mohammed Atoum.
