The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Freddie Blay, has taken a swipe at the legal counsel of former president John Mahama, claiming that their election petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court because they failed to present a strong case in court.

According to the National Chairman, Freddie Blay, “the NDC party went to court and argued as if grammar was what it takes to win a case”.

Speaking at the National Headquarters of the NPP after the Court hearing Thursday, Mr Blay stated that the NDC was in for the propaganda benefit of the petition as they had no evidence to back up their claims.

“They made it look as if the only witness they wanted to have in the witness box was the commissioner of the EC, that’s Jean Mensa. We made it clear it was unnecessary.

“It didn’t add anything to their case but it was just their display, it is just their propaganda. The judges have come to make it clear by their judgement,” he added.

He further admonished the NDC not to engage in activities that will undermine the peace and stability of the country.

“We should build this country together. We want to rely on their goodwill, they should not destabilize this country by going away to other places saying things and/or doing propaganda that will make people lose confidence in themselves and in our own country,” he stated.

The flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama who lost the 2020 polls took the Electoral Commission to court, challenging the validity of results and the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner.

But a seven-member panel of Supreme Court Judges in a unanimous decision, on March 4, dismissed the election petition filed by the 2020 NDC Presidential Candidate on grounds that it has no merit.
