Residents of Dannso in the Bosome Freho district of the Ashanti region have spat red against illegal mining activities that’s causing them.

According to the angry residents who fingered their chief Nana Kyei Poku, the DCE Hon. Yaw Danso and other NPP executive for being behind the illegalities, says  “it is high time such stupidity is put to stop”. They explained that the aforementioned names had been leading some alien Chinese to the reserved forest for such illegalities without considering the fact that it’s negatively affecting the residents.

“The DCE, some NPP party executive and our greedy chief have been doing these illegal mining with those Chinese. We cry to them but they don’t stop, they heartlessly destroy our reserved forest and other farm produce just for their selfish gains”, they sorrowfully revealed.

The angry residents who cladded in red around their heads and also wore red shirts, in a serious demonstration revealed that they were ready to shed blood against the destruction of their precious forest.

 

Speaking to journalists in angry mood some old women revealed that their cocoa farms had been forcibly destroyed by these illegal miners and also, the only source of water for their survival has been destroyed.

“Our only source of river “Danne”, our reserved forest with planted trees, our cocoa farms and other farm produce have been destroyed by these heartless people. We caution them to leave our Danne Forest else they see bloody clash”, the angry residents threatened.

Leader of the group Opanin Kwabena Kyei revealed that the Chief of Danso, Nana Poku Kyei has connived with some NPP gurus to allow such illegalities.

“These NPP big men only tell us we can’t do anything to them because their government is in power and that they choose to do anything they like. The DCE and the Constituency NPP Chairman are all behind. This thing which led to the destoolment of the previous chief has been worsened by the current chief who does things only to favour his selfish greediness”, he disclosed.

Dannso Kyidomhene and Kokofu Amponoma Kyidomhene, Nana Kwabena Kusi also expressed worried over how some greedy people are destroying the reserved forest at the expense of the suffering populace.

Journalists finding reactions from the accused DCE, Hon. Yaw Danso, he declined to meet them and speak to the issue since he claimed it wasn’t necessary.

He however told journalists on point blank that his duty was not to prevent illegal miners from destroying a reserved forest, and also dared journalists to arrest him if they feel he’s guilty of being a galamsey kingpin.

He said this on phone when journalists wanted to meet him for a reaction.
