Waste Management firm-Zoomlion Ghana limited has begun collecting heaps of waste which inundated principal streets and homes in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.

Eastern Regional base brytfm reported Tuesday that, the streets of New Juaben South were littered with heaps of garbage while waste bins in parts of the New Juaben Municipality overflowing with domestic waste generated mostly from kitchens of households in the Christmas season.

The degradable wastes are decomposing attracting houseflies increasing the vulnerability of the spread of diseases among residents.

Few hours after the report, Zoomlion has deployed trucks and Waste containers to collect the refuse.

While Workers operating tricycles were seen collecting the waste from accessible areas to empty into the containers.

Another waste collection vehicle was seen around 9:30 am at the first drug store area in Two -Streams community collecting garbage in waste bins which have not been collected for over two weeks now in the suburb and its surrounding communities.
