The road linking Dakodwom to the offices of the Ashanti Region Department of Urban Roads, Regional Coordinating Council and the Electoral Commission (EC) has been blocked at the moment.
Motorists now have to use longer routes to access their destinations. The road, according to the private developer passed through his land.
Officials from the Department of Urban Roads have confirmed the road was constructed without proper due diligence on the said route.
Ashanti regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensah also confirmed the same.
“A report was made to me. I called the regional lands officer to bring the layout and it was confirmed that the place was not a road. The road was constructed by default. So I have no authority over the land. If I decide to stop the developer, it will lead to judgment debt to the government”, the minister told 3news.com
A former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin appeared stranded when he attempted to access the road but realized it was blocked.
“This is one of the best roads you can find in the region. The thickness of the road should tell you the amount sank in building this road. It is a serious financial loss issue that the special prosecutor must look into because money was approved for the construction of the road. If someone did not do his or her work well to get this road pass through an individual’s land, then that person must be held accountable”, Yammin posited.
