The National Sports Authority (NSA) has organized this year’s National Cross Country athletics competition for the the 4th edition since 2019 at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipal of the Eastern Region on Saturday, 26th February 2022.
In all, 192 male and female athletes who were drawn from the sixteen administrative regions participated in the 10-kilometre event.

The event ended at the Akim Oda Sports Stadium at about 9:30 am.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include Director General of NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi, MCE for Birim Central, Honourable Victoria Adu, President of Ghana Athletics Association, Mr. Afelibeik Ababu, Chairman for LOC, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Board Chairman of NSA, Mr. Seth Panwum, Deputy Director General (Technical) NSA, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr.
In his keynote address, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi said the government will continue to support talented athletes with policies such as the stimulus package that was made available to sportsmen and sportswomen in Ghana.
He also said that opportunities exist for needy and talented athletes to benefit from state-sponsored academic scholarships.
