2022 World Cup: Group Stage Draw Results And Full Daily Schedule

FIFA conducted the final draw for the  2022 World Cup  (72nd Edition) on Friday in Doha on Friday, 1st April 2022.






The 32 qualified teams, allocated in four pots based on their  FIFA ranking, were drawn into eight groups of four teams each.  Qatar  were automatically the top seed in Group A despite being the lowest-ranked team.

It will be a World Cup like no other. Qatar, whose hosting of the tournament is controversial for the reasons described in this article, will stage the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world.


The tournament will also be the first World Cup not to be held in May, June, or July, instead taking place in November and December 2022, in a reduced time frame of just 28 days.

The tournament kicks off on Monday November 21 at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor with a match that will feature the host country, Qatar and .

The final will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday December 18.



There could be no more than two teams from Europe in any one pot, and no more than one nation from any other continental confederation.


After playing each team in their group, the top two teams advance to the knockout stage.


Defending champion France is among the favorites, vying to becoming the first team to repeat since Pele’s Brazil did in 1958 and 1962, but it will have to contend with a tough group.



Qatar was given a relatively simple draw and will open the competition against Ecuador lowest-ranked team in the world aside from the host nation.

Brazil  is the most successful national team in World Cup history with five trophies and the second successful national team in World Cup history is Germany with four trophies.




The 2022 World Cup will feature 32 teams in eight groups of four.


Four matches will be played each day during the group stage, which will run over a 12-day period and see winners and runners-up progress to the round of 16.


Matches will only be assigned to particular venues after the finals draw, so organisers can choose optimal kick-off times to suit television audiences in different countries, as well as supporters out in Qatar.

Unlike at Euro 2020, there will be a third-place play-off game on December 17.
