Special Prosecutor Takes Over Sir John’s Achimota Land Case

Spread the love

The office of the special prosecutor has served notice that it has begun full investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in the alleged and unlawful acquisition of state lands at the Achimota forest enclave and the Ramsar site by the former CEO of the forestry commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John.

A statement signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, indicates that Sir John including other persons will be investigated.

The special prosecutor has urged the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources to fully cooperate with the OSP in the investigations since they will play an important part in the probe.

The decision to launch the investigation follows the publication of a will, purported to be by Sir John. The ten-page document has been circulating on social media and follows an affirmation by the government that it will protect the forest reserve in Achimota.
