The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to commission the first phase of the rehabilitated Sunyani Airport on Wednesday (3 August 2022).

The Sunyani Airport, which is in the heart of the Bono Region was shut down in March 2015 after the runway developed challenges, which were not conducive for flight.

The rehabilitation works began in February 2019. It was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the airport has undergone renovation including the terminal and the tarmac.
