Bono Regional Advisory Board To Ensure Chieftaincy And Religious Cohesion Inaugurated

A 15 – Member Bono Regional Advisory Board (RAB) to ensure religious and chieftaincy cohesion in zongo communities has been inaugurated on last Friday at Sunyani.

Held under the auspices of the Bono Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Umar Abdul – Kadre, the inauguration was aimed at consistently enhancing peace and stability across Islamic communities.

The Board, comprising of Islamic scholars, Opinion leaders, and Muslim teachers among other key stakeholders in the Bono region, would be in the helm of affairs till 2026.

The Members of the Board were mandated to spearhead leadership in advisory roles thematic areas including administrative functions, chieftaincy, religion related issues among others in the region.

 

Mr Ansu Kumi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani, in his remarks, entreated the members of the Board to administer their duties with strict adherence to the fear of God.

He stressed that the socio – economic development could not be realise without a harmonious environment saying that religious and chieftaincy cohesion is key.

The MCE reiterated the commitment of the government to ensure peace and unity among Islamic communities in the country adding that the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF) is bridging the gab between zongos and others.

” the fund has spread massive infrastructural development across zongo communities in the country. The mission of the ZDF is to improve the standard of living of every Islamic community” Mr Ansu emphasised.

Sariki Yusif Fanyinama III, the President, Council of Wangara Chiefs in Ghana, who chaired the ceremony, urged members of the board to exhibit the teachings of the holy Quran in the discharge of their roles.

He urged the various religious groups and chiefs in the zongo communities to preach, Practice and love peace and unity to ensure the smooth progress of the country.

The President of the Wangara community solicited the support of chiefs, government officials, Islamic leaders, and residents of zongo communities among other stakeholders, to towards the realisation of the board’s mission.

 

Sariki Fanyinama assured that the Wangara community and the various zongo chiefs in the country would collaborate with the newly constituted board to ensure a comfortable society.

The Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Yusif Imoro, on behalf of the members, expressed gratitude to the leaders for the trust reposed in them saying that “we shall work tirelessly to enhance a healthy communal living”.
