Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, has refuted reports that the families of former presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi were being targeted on tax evasion claims.

Mr Mudavadi said President William Ruto had not mentioned any names in his push for tax compliance, and claims the reports were inferences made by the media.

He however insists that everyone must pay taxes to help government run its activities.

It follows the circulation of a video on social media video of former First Lady Ngina Kenyatta, in which she publicly stated her family had paid all taxes due.

She added that she was ready to be investigated for tax evasion and that she was ready to pay up any arrears if claims of unpaid taxes can be substantiated
