The Ghana president of Sweden based NGO, Give To Life Charity Organization, Madam Dorcas Dadzie has appealed to the government to prioritize the improvement of educational infrastructure in rural communities, to help promote quality education for rural children.

She said it was sad that children of farmers who were toiling in remote rural communities to feed the nation, contribute significantly to the Gross Domestic product (GDP), were discriminated and denied quality education.

According to her, it is time for the government to take a second look at widening gap in educational infrastructural development in urban and rural communities and make conscious and deliberate efforts to improve classroom blocks, laboratories, libraries, teaching and learning materials as well as accommodation for teachers at the basic school level in rural communities.

She explained that most parents lived in villages and remote cottages with their children did not have access to quality education, especially at the basic levels.

Madam Dorcas Dadzie pointed out that deplorable road networks, coupled with bad classroom infrastructure and lack of adequate teaching and learning materials as well as qualified teachers, have conspired to deny the rural child his fair share of education.

This had made most children in rural communities unable to further their education, hence, their inability to uplift themselves from the poverty cycle.

The beneficiaries who were from some selected schools in the Northern region (Dachio Primary, Pologo junior high school – Bolga East, Gbeogo Primary, Yua junior high – Kassena Nankana municipal, Eastern region (Ayim Basic School – Akuapem South District) and Greater Accra region (Adenkrabi school) received clothes, mosquito net, sanitary pads, food items and learning materials such as exercise books, Mathematical Sets, pens and pencils.

She noted that the donation was part of her NGO’s goal which is to create necessary conditions for orphans and needy children, Girl-Child education and to create awareness and knowledge of the children’s rights.

She urged the pupils to take their studies seriously and appealed to the teachers to monitor and support them especially, the needy pupils to stay and learn.
