The Atwima Nwabiagy South Constituency First Vice Chairman who doubles as the Ashanti Regional TESCON Patron, Mr. John Kwame Duodu, popularly known as Sir John, has admonished all the Presidential Candidate hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to conduct their campaigns devoid of insults, name-calling, propaganda and violence.

His caution was particularly directed at three of the flagbearer aspirants who seem to have taken the front-lines of the campaigns namely, the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, Former Trade and Industry Minister, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyermanteng, and Assin Central Lawmaker, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

He entreated them to work hard to ensure that the forthcoming internal elections will be peaceful and incident-free before, during, and after.

Speaking with the Daily Searchlight Newspaper and MyGhanaMedia.com, Sir John further intimated that the NPP’s presidential primaries require all the contenders to conduct their campaigns with decorum and let the delegates know what they have done as far as the party is concerned and what they can do towards making the breaking the eight agenda a reality come December 7, 2024.

Sir John also noted that the presidential candidates primary is not battleground but an internal contest of ideas and therefore all aspirants should tell delegates across the country what they have done before and what they can do should they be given the mandate to lead the Party into the 2024 general elections.

He said this will enable the delegates to better appreciate who to vote for during the upcoming presidential candidates elections.

“We don’t want any internal wranglings amongst ourselves in the primaries at this crucial moment of our Party’s agenda of breaking the eight (8) because it is only unity that can help us achieve this herculean task so I urge all the aspirants to engage in issue-based campaigns and the delegates will vote for the deserving candidate” he said.

He also called on the National Executive Council of the Party to be vigilant towards the forthcoming presidential candidates elections by setting up clear rules to prevent the aspirants from engaging in unhealthy campaigns that would end up to give the opposition party more bullets to fire back at the Party ahead of the 2024 general elections.

‘The Executives of our oarty should be fair and firm and also make sure that any aspirant who misconducts himself as they intensify their campaigns is called to order.

On this note, he wished all the flagbearer aspirants the very best as they criss-crossed the country with their campaigns.
