Ghanaians on social media are expressing shock at news of how two househelps allegedly stole from the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah.
According to an Accra High Court presiding over the case, the thefts happened between July and October last year.
Per the report made by The Chronicle newspaper, the items were stolen from the Abelemkpe residence of the Minister and her husband.
They included significant sums of monies as well as personal belongings of the Minister and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour.
The househelps —Patience and Sarah— are currently being charged with one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and five counts of stealing US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana cedis.
Three other individuals identified to be the father, the current and former boyfriends of one of the househelps have also been charged in connection with the thefts.
Though an unfortunate incident has occurred to the Minister, some Ghanaian Netizens also bewildered by the fact that such amounts were being kept in the house of the Minister.
“Bro, if you have $1million dollars in cash inside your house, then your bank accounts will be brazy. Ei!” one user tweeted.
