“You Cannot Describe The Tribesmen Of The Founder Of The 4th Republic As Juju And Inward Looking People” – ADAM-GH To Nana Addo

Press releases. 16th March 2021.

YOU CANNOT DESCRIBE THE TRIBESMEN OF THE FOUNDER OF THE 4TH REPUBLIC AS JUJU AND INWARD LOOKING PEOPLE, ADAM-GH TO PREZ. NANA ADDO.

President Nana Addo must come out to address the nation on this dangerous ethnocentric and tribal bigotry tendencies that is likely to divide us as Ghanaians following what we describe as an irresponsible and a reckless continuous attempt to denigrate our brothers from the Volta region, with the recent distorted history against the Ewes in our educational curricular to be taught our children in sharp focus. ADAM-GH could recall that the President of the Republic H:E Nana Addo called on us (Civil Society Organizations), Christians Council, Muslims Council, The Peace Council and moral society as a whole to condemn in no uncertain terms the AKYEMS SAKAWA BOYS comments made by the member of Parliament of Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Isaac Adongo which was echoed by Former President John Mahama via his Twitter handle.

President Nana Addo told us that ” it is unacceptable and unfortunate for John Mahama to reffer to the tribe that the sitting President is coming from as SAKAWA BOYS” and thus called on all civil society organization to condemn that comment from John Mahama.

Today, Nana Addo’s government describes a tribe that the founder of the 4th Republic and the longest serving head of state comes from as “JuJu” People and “Inward Looking” People.

Unfortunate tendencies such as these puts our democracy in danger if we begin to undermine and destroy the image of certain tribes to our future generation, seeing other tribes as inferior over some tribes in the country. Undoubtedly, the only thing that can generate unending tribal or Religious conflict in a country is when a faction downplays certain tribes or Religion.

ADAM-GH also sees another dangerous, mischievous, and misleading attempt to twist our cherished history by undermining Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of blessed memory as not being the founder of the Republic of Ghana even when he was posthumously voted the “African of the Millennium” and hailed by well meaning people across Africa and the globe at large as an iconic figure and an epitome of leadership.

Yet a certain Dankwa Busia is being trumpetted by this Government and being foisted on our neck as a co-founder of Ghana when history clearly told us the impeding he and his tradition played to deny Ghanains our struggle to liberate ourselves from the shackles of colonialism. That is how good this Government has been good at twisting and distorting history to benefit their Political tradition to the detriment of known knowledge of Ghana’s Political History.

We as a civil society organization is seeing that attempt as senseless and missleading. For instance, no body can say we can not call this administration Nana Addo government because it took a lot of people to bring the NPP party to power.

We are Ghanaians today due to Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s visionary leadership.Textbook with offensive tribal depiction is a well calculated attempt by this government to soil the credibility of the Ewes.

Officials of this government started calling the Ewes Togolese and flooded the Volta and Oti Region with Uniformed men during voter identification card registration to enforce their course to disenfranchise legitimate Ghanaians from that part of the country.

As NACCA is withdrawing the controversial offensive ethnocentric book, we in the ADAM-GH is cautioning the officials of this government to desist from refering to our brothers from the Volta Region as Togolese. Ewes are not the only tribes that have their brothers and sisters in neighboring countries.

We have Ashantes and Akyems in La Cote-Voire and Liberia with most of them resident in Ghana but we have never heard anybody calling them Foreigners simply because there are other tribesmen resident in La Cod-Voir or Liberia. It is very shameful for literate to be engaging in this infantile chisms.
