A broadcast journalist at Eastern region-based Ahenkan FM who doubles as Editor-in-Chief for MyGhanaMedia.com online portal and Eastern Regional Daily Searchlight Correspondent, Adwenpa-Hene Kofi Mensah, known in real life as Mensah Francis, has donated mathematical sets and Pens to 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates at Aduwamase D/A JHS in the Atwima Kwanwoma District and Asamang D/A JHS in the Atwima Mponua district.

The donation was to ensure that none of the candidates lacked basic items needed for the examinations.

Motivation

speaking with the media during the presentation of the items at Atwima Asamang, he said that some of the students lacked financial support from their parents or caregiver to acquire such instruments, which left them stranded in the exam hall, therefore, the donation is to help the students, especially those who are unable to afford mathematical sets to pass their exams.

“I wish to embark on such donation every year to support the students”, he added

Adwenpa-Hene who interacted with the candidates during the presentation cautioned them to abide by all the examination rules and desist from examination malpractice or disobedience during the process.

“I believe that the teachers have done their bit. Theirs is to revise their notes to excel in the examinations and make everyone proud of them”, the Daily Searchlight Newspaper Eastern Regional Correspondent added.

He expressed his appreciation to all those who encouraged and supported the success of the donation.

The Ghanaian Journo has for the passed three (3) years been supporting the some BECE Candidates within Atwima Mponua district and Atwima Kwawomma district.

Gratitude

The headteacher of Asamang D/A JHS, Mr. Yakubu Bukari, commended Mr Mensah Francis, popularly known as Adwenpa-Hene, for the gesture.

According to him the provision of the mathematical sets and Pens would go a long way toward reducing the rate at which students communicate in the examination halls.

He called on the authorities to support school with Computers to make teaching of information and communications technology (ICT) easier.

On her part, Madam Agnes, a teacher of Aduwamase D/A JHS, commended the kind-heartedness of Adwenpa-Hene, adding that the gesture was timely.

While receiving the items, she said the teachers and the students are happy to have this support.

Finally, the students express their profound gratitude to Adwenpa-Hene for his timely donation.

They said the math set is sold for 20 cedis in their area, so they were thinking about how to purchase it as far as their final forthcoming exams is concerned.

The BECE began on Monday, August 7, 2023, and will end on Friday, August 11, 2023.
