The Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA) has justified its decision to raise port duties by claiming that its port tariffs are still competitive in comparison to Ghana’s neighbors.

The GPHA ascribed the port rate revision on global economic issues, inflation, and currency depreciation.

Ghana Union of Traders’ Association President Dr. Joseph Obeng issued a statement urging GPHA to  suspend the implementation of its new tariff as it will have a toll on crippling businesses.
