As the 2023 Limited Voters Registration (LVR) exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission enters the second week, the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Wiredu is entreating all Ghanaian citizens who have attained eighteen (18) years or more since the last mass voters registration exercise and all other eligible persons who for some reasons could not register during the 2020 mass registration exercise to endeavour to visit the Metropolitan, Municipal and District offices of the Electoral and get registered in time to avoid last minute rush and possible disappointment should the EC be unable to extend the registration duration.

‘’As the 2023 District Level Elections draws closer, we are encouraging every eligible unregistered voter to take advantage of this limited voters registration exercise and register in time to avoid last-minute rush and any possible disappointment so that such eligible voters can also exercise their franchise in the upcoming District Level Elections and all other future elections”, he stated.

Speaking to our reporters in Nkawie during a a field outreach, Mr. Wiredu admitted that the centralization of the exercise at the Electoral Commission’s district offices has had a heavy toll on the exercise so far, especially for the inhabitants in the hinterlands but said it was about time the citizenry rose up to the discharge of their civic responsibilities towards the growth and sustenance of Ghana’s democratic dispensation.

“Yes, the feedback from our filed engagements is that many people have been complaining about why the registration exercise is taking place at the district capital, especially those in the hinterlands. But we all need to understand voting in elections is a political right and at the same time a civic duty so I urge every eligible person out there to endeavour to go and register so that they can also play a meaningful part in our political dispensation”, he emphasized.

He indicated his outfit was doing its possible best to keep disseminating information on the exercise to the general public through all available media in spite of its resource constraints. He therefore called on all stakeholders to do their part in ensuring the exercise becomes peaceful and successful.
