Kennedy Agyapong, the former flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) has denied allegations that he will leave the party before the general elections in 2024.
He said that he overtrusted people, but the NPP flagbearer contest loss had taught him valuable lessons.
He says he was rejected by the party because they knew he would crack the whip.
He says the people of Ghana are not ready for change and will therefore continue to embrace the same way of doing things rather than choose people who will challenge the status and cause great change.
Kennedy Agyapong was speaking at the Showdown Thanksgiving Service in the United States of America when he said this.
However, he indicated that he will not lose his vision for Ghana and will continue to strive to ensure that the vision comes to pass.
“I’m sorry, but I will tell you the truth. They will just steal your money, that is why they didn’t vote for me because they knew I was going to crack the whip. We will not allow people to embezzle the state funds at the expense of the poor country,” he said.
He promised, nonetheless, that he would remain an NPP member despite his disappointment.
“If you are an NPP, I am still an NPP. New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) people should rest assured that Kennedy Agyapong is still an NPP. I will continue to be an NPP but Ghana first” he stated.
