Tano North NPP Primaries : Stop Spreading Falsehood About Dr Boako Else…. – Group Warns NPP Chairman

The Concerned Tano North NPP Supporters, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) group in the Ahafo Region has warned the party’s Regional Chairman, Mr Kwabena Owusu Sekyere to desist from spreading any further misinformation, disinformation and outright falsehood about Dr Gideon Boako, an aspiring parliamentary candidate of the party in the Tano North Constituency.

The group accused the Chairman of violating the Constitution of the NPP by acting as campaign manager of Hon Freda Prempeh, the current Member of Parliament (MP) of the Constituency who is also a contestant in the upcoming parliamentary primary election of the party.

“Ahead of the party’s primaries slated for 27th January 2024, we have taken notice of the conduct of the Ahafo Regional Chairman Mr Kwabena Owusu Sekyere in the Tano North Constituency which violates the party’s constitution and the code of conduct which was formulated by Article 18 of the NPP’s constitution…” the group said in a press release.

“Regrettably, the Regional chairman,” the release continued, “whose role is to serve as a referee, foster unity and cohesion within the party has become the campaign manager for Hon Freda Prempeh who has already lost touch with the constituents and he is through telephone conversation and personal interactions with delegates spreading misinformation and disinformation about Dr Gideon Boako, a move which can cause chaos in the constituency…We are by this statement cautioning and reminding him that nobody is bigger than the party therefore he should refrain from such blatant lies and falsehood he is propagating in the constituency else he will be treated just like any other ordinary party member who is working at the detriment of the party in the Tano North Constituency.”

Dr Gideon Boako will face off with Hon. Fred Prempeh in the NPP’s upcoming Parliamentary primaries for Constituencies with sitting NPP MPs. It is expected to be a fierce fight given the stature of Dr Boako within the party hierarchy and the fact that Hon Prempeh is the incumbent MP and has won the seat several times.
