A celebrated educationist and elder of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Mr. Robert Akurugu Ajene’s son has denied rumors circulating in the airwaves allegedly announcing the death of his father.

Ghana was thrown into a state of shock upon hearing the alleged demise of the veteran politician go viral on various social media platforms on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

A source on MyNewGh.com said, “A renowned educationist, Mr. Robert Akurugu Ajene, passed away at the age of 85. Mr. Ajene, who is well respected for his pioneering roles in the establishment and management of several key educational institutions in the country, especially in the Upper East, passed away on December 31, 2023”.

However, David Adugdaa, a son of Mr. Robert Akurugu Ajene, has refuted the statement and declared it to be false.

“I can confidently say that my father, Mr. Robert Akurugu Ajene, is alive and well,” he stated.

He has further expressed great disappointment in people who tend to spread false information about others without investigating to know what might have happened.

Mr. David says in an interview with MyGhanaMedia.com that his father is significantly stronger than concrete.

“He is stronger than concrete. He just arrived from the village of Sambolgo, our family home.
