Ghana: Monday Jan. 8 Declared As Public Holiday

The government through the Interior Minister has declared Monday, January 8, 2024 as a public holiday.

The Ministry in a statement noted that Monday was declared a holiday because Sunday, January 7, which marks Constitution Day, falls on a weekend.

“In view of the fact that 7th January,2024 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 8th January, 2024 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.,” the statement explained.

The public was further entreated to observe the holiday as such throughout the country.

The information was contained in a statement issued by the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, on January 2, 2024.
