Chris Hughton: Calculations Already Set; We Need A Win Over Mozambique To Qualify

Spread the love

Ghana needs to beat Mozambique to progress to the round of 16 stage at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire and that isn’t lost on Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.

The veteran coach accepted this reality in his post game presser after seeing his side blow away multiple leads to draw 2-2 with Egypt.

After losing its opening tie in the competition via a 1-2 loss to Cape Verde, bagging just a point against Egypt means the Black Stars have to beat Mozambique to have any chance of progressing to the next round.

Ghana is hoping to avoid a second exit at the AFCON group stage in a row after crashing out early from the 2021 AFCON and to avoid that Chris Hughton knows his side needs to beat Mozambique.

“The calculations are already made, we need a victory to pursue our dream and I know we are capable of it.”

Mozambique-Ghana kicks off at 20:00 GMT on Monday, January 22.
