The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong admonition to parliamentary aspirants planning to transport or gather delegates in preparation for the upcoming primaries on Saturday, January 27, to abandon such plans.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, cautioned that aspirants resorting to camping or busing delegates would face disciplinary actions.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, January 22, in Kumasi, Mr. Frimpong Kodua advised delegates to refrain from using their phones to capture their ballots after casting their votes.

He further unveiled a set of guidelines in anticipation of the parliamentary primaries scheduled for January 27.

“The party has formulated these rules and regulations to ensure free and fair elections and we believe that everyone should be allowed to feel free to walk to the polling centre to cast their votes. It is of this belief that we have made the statement that no one should camp delegates at any place.”

“Those who take pictures of their votes, aside from nullifying your votes, it is an offence and you would be handed over to the Police.”

Meanwhile, he has also instructed all party members to abstain from making any comments on the ongoing issues between the political party and the Manhyia Palace.

The General Secretary of the NPP also disclosed that he, along with some party officials, were spearheading a visit to the Manhyia Palace in response to the matter.

The party’s Ashanti Regional chairman, Antwi Boasiako is said to have disrespected Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following which some youth of Asanteman have been demanding an apology from him. Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, has denied the accusation.
