The Northern Regional Serial Callers Association for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has embarked on a strike action due to what it describes as “poor welfare and remuneration.”

The association, in a statement dated February 16, 2024, said it has “seized communicating for and on behalf of the party and the government with immediate effect.”

It added, “This development has become necessary following the increasing frustrations of our members as a result of failed promises by our party regional executives for some years now to cater to the socioeconomic welfare of our members.”

They further lamented that the regional executive of the party has taken them for granted for a very long time after several complaints were made to them.

According to the association, some requests it has made, including securing jobs for members with requisite qualifications, agricultural support, financial support, scholarships for students, and communication gadgets for their work, have all fallen into deaf ears.

The statement also pointed out that some committed members of the association have lost their meagre capital for their micro businesses.

“It is worth noting that, some of our members who had their own little capital to run their own microbusinesses have lost their capitals because they have devoted much of their time to advocating for the party,” parts of the statement added.

The association called on all members to comply with the strike actions and anyone or group of persons who defy this will face sanctions within the group.

The group secretary, Umar Faruk Sabonjida, signed the statement.
