Following over two years of offering free portable water to rural communities, free health screenings, and assistance with teaching and learning materials to underprivileged but needy students, HIVE Ghana held a conference on March 9 at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Great Hall. The event attracted a sizable number of KNUST students as well as members of the Ashanti and Northern regions of Ghana.

The vibrant occasion served as a showcase for creative and instructive ideas in the age of technology.

The keynote speakers of the symposium, which included a few KNUST lecturers and IT specialists, expressed themselves powerfully on the subject of “Exploring opportunities for financial empowerment through Web3 Technology.”

The head of Hive GH, Mr. Samuel Owusu Boadi, elaborates on the necessity for the younger generation, particularly students and Internet users, to embrace “The New internet,” or Web3, on which HIVE operates, rather than squandering their time on social media platforms that don’t generate revenue.

He went on to warn that, in contrast to other social media sites we are aware of, the reason he is pushing everyone to sign up for Hive is that, in addition to sharing your stuff on the platform for the world to see, you also get paid for anything you post.

As one of the symposium’s discussants, Dr. Rose-Mary Owusuaa Mensah Gyening (PhD), a lecturer at KNUST’s Department of Computer Science, cautioned students to embrace The New Internet because it can aid in the resolution of societal issues, particularly those involving technology solutions for underserved populations and those with special needs.
