Government Declares Wednesday, May 1 As Public Holiday.

The Interior Ministry has announced that Wednesday, 1st May 2024 shall be observed as a statutory holiday throughout the country.

May 1, is marked as May Day or International Workers Day worldwide and is marked to celebrate the achievements of workers.

Durbars are expected to be held by workers’ unions across the country.

In a press statement announcing the holiday, the Interior Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey stated, “The general public is hereby informed that Wednesday, 1st May 2024 which marks May Day (Workers Day), is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”
