Members of the Eighth Parliament are expected to resume from recess on Friday, May 17. 2024.
This is stated in a notification from the House dated May 10, 2024, and signed by Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, which was obtained by MyGhanaMedia.com.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Speaker of Parliament on May 10, said that in pursuant to Article 112(3) of the Constitution and Order 53(1) and (2) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, summoned the House to sit on Friday, May 17.
This recall follows a filed petition by the majority caucus in parliament requesting the sitting to take up outstanding government business.
In a letter directed to the Speaker by the Majority leader, reference was made to Article 112(3) and Order 53 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, which authorizes 15 percent of the House members to request Parliament’s recall.
Parliament adjourned on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
