The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Phyllis Naa Koryo Okunor has been detained by the Police.
According to reports, she is being held together with her driver and security man.
This follows the stabbing of Ato Koomson, son of the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson.
Supporters of the National Democratic Congress have stormed the Cantonment Police Station in Accra over the arrest of NDC parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya East Constituency.
The NDC Youth, led by George Opare Addo (Pablo), revolted against the arrest of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, at the Cantonments Police Station.
All roads are blocked, tyres are being worn, and the crowds keep increasing.
Also, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has called on all party faithful to throng the Cantonments Police Station, where the parliamentary candidate of the party for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Naa Koryoo Okunor, has been detained.
He said they should come and solidarize with her.
“All NDC supporters should join us at the Cantonments Police Station for us to show solidarity with our sister and demand her release now. Enough of the oppression and harassment of NDC figures by the Police Service. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” he wrote in a statement dated June 7, 2024.
Madam Okunor and two others were on Sunday, June 2, 2024 arrested at Ofaakor for possession of a firearm without lawful authority but were granted bail.
Therefore, the NDC suspects witch-hunt with the latest arrest.
The party has urged its members to storm the Cantonment Police station to support their comrade.
