The Real Tamale United (RTU) football team narrowly avoided tragedy on their journey back from an embarrassing 8-1 loss to Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League.
The team bus encountered a brake failure near Tuobodom, causing the vehicle to veer off the road between Tuobodom and Taniboase in the Bono East Region.
Fortunately, the experienced driver managed to steer the bus into a bush, preventing any injuries to the players or staff.
The players were promptly transported to a safe location, while the club’s management is cooperating with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the incident.

RTU’s humiliating defeat has compounded their woes, as the club is already under investigation by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for allegedly fielding unqualified players in the match against Dreams FC on Wednesday, June 12. Dreams FC’s Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored five goals in the one-sided affair.
The GFA’s disciplinary committee has initiated a probe into the allegations, which could result in severe sanctions for the club. RTU’s regular players boycotted the match due to unpaid salaries, prompting the club’s CEO to allegedly bring in players from lower-tier teams, violating the competition’s regulations.
The GFA has reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring all participants adhere to established rules and regulations.
Real Tamale United, already relegated and sitting 18th in the league standings, is scheduled to play Great Olympics on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, adding to the club’s mounting challenges both on and off the pitch.
