The leader of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, widely known as Opambour has publicly endorsed the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.
During a recent broadcast on his television show, Opambour expressed his support through a song dedicated to Mahama.
Opambour emphasized Mahama’s extensive experience and suitability for the presidency.
He urged Ghanaian voters to prioritize Mahama’s proven leadership over what he criticized as Vice President Bawumia’s “experimental” approach.
Opambour expressed concerns that Bawumia’s comparison of himself to a “driver’s mate” could potentially expose President Akufo-Addo to public mockery, implying a deliberate separation from his own administration in an effort to win public approval before the elections.
Opambour questioned, “Is Bawumia implying that as ‘mate,’ he should not be held accountable if the ‘driver’ (President Akufo-Addo) behaves recklessly?”
He criticized Bawumia’s assertion that his suggestions to President Akufo-Addo go unheeded, stressing the need for unity and accountability in governance.
“He [Dr. Bawumia] is implying that he is the mate so we should put all the blame on the driver? Is he insinuating that if the driver is driving recklessly, there is nothing he can do about it because he is the mate?”
“Also, he is saying that as the vice president, when he makes a suggestion, Nana Addo doesn’t heed. That’s not right; he should own up to what’s happening and that will show that he is with him. He is exposing Akufo-Addo to public ridicule which is not prudent,” Opambour said.
During his inaugural address as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer at the UPSA auditorium in Accra on February 7, 2024, Dr. Bawumia likened his role in government to that of a “driver’s mate.”
He pledged to pursue his vision and priorities if elected president, urging Ghanaians not to judge him solely on the current government’s performance.
