The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that its Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate Shaibu Migyimah remains at post.
The party said this after setting aside the letter originating from the Secretariat of the Central Region NDC purporting to withdraw his candidacy.
The FEC further suspended the Central Regional Chairman of the party, Prof Richard Asiedu, with immediate effect for the decision he took.
This is the outcome of a meeting held on July 2, 2024, on the withdrawal of the Assin Central parliamentary candidate, Shaibu Migyimah over alleged amorous relationship with the wife of the constituency General Secretary, Sadique Broni.
“The Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, is hereby suspended as Regional Chairman for one month effective immediately and is referred to the national Disciplinary Committee of the party on a charge of anti-party conduct,” General Secretary of the Party, Fifi Kwetey wrote in a letter intercepted by 3news.com.
The party has also suspended the Constituency Secretary for one month “… and referred to the national Disciplinary Committee on the charge of anti-party conduct.
The letter that withdrew the candidature of the parliamentary candidate for Assin Central has thus been declared null and void.
