The national leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in consultation with the National Council of the party has decided to replace its sitting Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw constituency in the Eastern Region, Joseph Frempong, from 2024 parliamentary elections.
The decision is said to have been made at an emergency meeting held in Accra on Tuesday (3 September 2024).
The sitting MP, Joseph Frempong, is currently ill and, as a result, will not be able to engage in rigorous campaigns ahead of the general elections.
In his stead, David Asante, who currently serves as the chief executive office of Ghana Publishing Company Limited, will be assigned as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Nkawkaw constituency for the 2024 general elections.
Asante is an indigene of Nkawkaw, and he contested the incumbent MP during the parliamentary primaries of the party in January 2024 but lost to Joseph Frempong.
