President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, November 29, inaugurated Phase Two of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange, reaffirming his commitment to enhancing infrastructure and improving mobility along the windward corridors of Accra.

Phase one of the project included the construction of a 550-meter viaduct and ramps connecting Graphic Road to Dr Busia Highway (Kaneshie-Mallam Road).

Additionally, a culvert was built across Graphic Road, along with a storm drain of similar dimensions extending to the Ring Road West carriageway.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Akufo-Addo expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I am very happy to be here to commission Phase Two of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.”

He highlighted that the project serves as tangible evidence of the government’s strong commitment to transforming the nation’s infrastructure, improving mobility, promoting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for all Ghanaians.

The President also reiterated his vision for addressing traffic congestion in this critical part of Accra.

“When I had the honour of commissioning Phase One in 2020, I pledged to the people of Ghana that we would deliver the second phase as part of a comprehensive solution. Today, I am deeply gratified to declare that this promise has been fulfilled.”

The completion of Phase Two is a significant milestone in infrastructure development, with considerable benefits.

It will notably improve traffic flow, especially for journeys to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, while easing movement to Kaneshie and other areas of Accra.

This improvement is expected to create new business opportunities and transform surrounding communities, benefiting thousands of Ghanaians.

Furthermore, the project is anticipated to act as a catalyst for economic vibrancy in the capital, facilitating the seamless movement of goods and services.

By reducing business costs, it is expected to attract increased investment, contributing to Ghana’s sustained growth and prosperity, the President added.
