Ghana Football’s cup competition will go into the Quarter final draw without a single club from the country’s second tier competition.
The 48 second tier clubs entered the competition at the preliminary stage together with the 44 selected regional division 2 champions, but only 5 qualified to the Round of 16 stage.
Tamale City, Kintampo FC, from zone 1, Asokwa Deportivo from zone 2, while Tema Youth and Accra Young Wise came from the zone 3 of rhe division one league.
The division one league, known as the ‘wilderness’ of Ghana Football could not prevail with their 5 remaining teams in the round of 16, with all of them mising out of a chance to play in the quarter finals.
The league which produced the first Champion of the competition, Nania FC in 2011 when it was reintroduced by the Ghana FA after a 10 year break now has 0 going into the draw for the final 8 teams.
