Majority Leader urge Sanitation minister to stop mining activities on River pra.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has warned that, the just started mining activities on the offinso and Pra River must be stopped. 

Contributing to the approval of the loan on the  floor of Parliament, he said  the head waters in the Pra River has started getting polluted because  somebody has started mining in the head waters of that river.

Parliament today was considering a report from the finance committee of a loan facility mounting to £81,233,423 euros to finance water supply rehabilitation and expansion project for sekondi-takoradi.

Some communities to benefit from this project are, Takoradi, Effiakuma, Kwesimintsim, Kojokrom, Ntankoful, Adiembra, Shama and other surrounding villages. 

The MP for Suame, Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu strongly urge the Minister for Water Resources Cecilia Dapaah to have a second look at it. 

He said there must be a much more determin to stop mining operations in both the offinso and Pra River so that the integrity of the waters will be attested to,if not than he he’s  afraid to this venture.
