U20 Women’s World Cup: Ghana Reach Final Qualifying Round After Zambia Win

Ghana have reached the final stage of the U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers following a hard-fought victory against Zambia at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.

The Black Princesses knew any kind of victory would be enough for them after the goalless draw in the first leg two weeks ago in Lusaka.

And they got a 1-0 win thanks to Hasaacas Ladies attacking midfielder Evelyn Badu who scored the decisive goal in the first half.

Both teams had decent opportunities in the early exchanges but could not take their chances as the clock ticked.

However, a slick team move gave the Princesses a deserved lead in the 35th minute with Badu scoring superbly.

Back from recess, the Young Copper Queens looked more dangerous on the ball but couldn’t beat goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan who was in inspired form.

Meanwhile, forward Rahama Jafar squandered a glorious chance to double Ghana’s lead.

The Princesses will play Uganda who knocked out South Africa in the next round.
