A Concerned Youth of Akyem Asene in the Asene Manso Akroso district of the Eastern Region has called for calm and a ceasefire in the wake of the commotion caused by false rumors that the ongoing AstroTurf project at their community has been abandoned.
This appeal was made after a section of the youth in the community expressed their displeasure and frustration regarding a rumor that their AstroTurf project had been shelved and wouldn’t be completed for the youth to use.
Meeting With MP
However, speaking with the community’s Concerned Youth, it was revealed that they had met with their Member of Parliament, Hon. George Kwame Aboagye, popularly known as “Oluwa,” and received assurances that the AstroTurf project has not been abandoned and will undoubtedly be completed and put to its intended use.
According to the youth, the MP explained that due to the change of government, the project’s documents need to be reviewed before the contractor can proceed with the work, just as other projects across the country have been halted for some time now.
Assurance / Calm
The Concerned Youth have expressed confidence in their MP’s ability to fulfill his promises to the constituents. They believe that Hon. Aboagye will pursue the project’s completion and hand it over to the youth of Akyem Asene.
The youth are therefore urging everyone to exercise patience and calmness while the project is being processed.
In a statement, the Concerned Youth of Akyem Asene said, “We have met with our MP, Oluwa, and he has assured us that the AstroTurf project hasn’t been abandoned. We know our MP for always fulfilling his promises, and we are hopeful that he will pursue the project’s completion.”
Project Background
The Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) AstroTurf project, known as the Gas Park in Akyem Asene, is expected to provide a state-of-the-art sports facility for the youth in the community.
The project, which was part of the MP’s campaign promise, was initiated to promote sports development and provide a safe and quality playing surface for the youth.
